## IFAB’s tempo Laws go live in the Premier League

Pro Ref’s season briefing put the mandatory 2026/27 changes front and centre: injured players who stop play must leave for at least one minute; delayed throw-ins and goal kicks face a five-second countdown (reversal to the opponents if exceeded); substituted players have ten seconds to leave; VAR can review a clearly wrong second yellow that produces a red; and a goalkeeper “tactical timeout” trial forces an outfield player off for a minute when the keeper’s injury stops play. The League’s Football Principles still keep a high foul and VAR threshold — flow without turning every contact into a whistle.

## Manchester FA’s pre-course model for young referees
